The guy said "I'm from Brooklyn, originally from Utah."
Obviously the man's point was that he wasn't just some tourist from Utah, and that he now lives in NY, so he wasn't trying to pass himself off as a person born and bred in NY, as the dummy Smith was implying!

I fail to see "owned" hes splitting hairs over the words from and live. I was born in Texas lived there till I was 5 and then moved to Indiana and lived there ever since. I'm 34. I dont have a Texas drawl, But I was born there, I wasnt born in Indiana but I have spent most of my life there. Ive lived in several different countries...was a foreign exchange student. So where am I from? Like I said, splitting hairs to go for audience approval without actually making a valid point.
