  • Crop those ears! Reason 1: you reduce the chance of ear infections since bacteria dont have a dark, moist area to breed, like the inside of a dogs floppy ear. Reason 2: Someone looks in your window and sees a D/C Doberman, there moving on to the next house. Cropped Dobies look not only show worthy but also mean. Do you want a friendly looking dog proteting your property?

  • WOW, how did I miss this comment. First off, we did not buy our Dobe for security, we bought him for a family pet and we choose not to crop his ears because we have kids, our neighbors have kids, & a lot of our friends have kids and we did not want them to be afraid of the dog. As for protection, anyone looking in the windows and seeing or hearing him bark will be moving along anyways, cropped ears or not.

By the way, he's 5 yrs old now and guess what? No ear infections. ;)

  • what a shame to leave those ears un cropped...

  • Yeah, I don't think so. Buy yourself a dobe and crop his ears if you want. Mine is staying natural.

  • lol try to tell some1 to crop their dobes ears in sweden because it's illegal here and they will start telling you what a bad person you are. Imo Dobes looks awesome in both cropped and not but i'm gonna have to go without because of the law here .

  • You have a beautiful dobie cropped ears or not absolutly beautfiul. I agree with either way. All of our Dobies ears have been cropped but thats just cause thats what we like if the dogs were in too much pain we wouldn't do it.

  • @r71cuda I agree with keeping them natural.. while it's part of the "breed" some would say, I find that people aren't as intimidated by her. Which is important since Gracie is also a family dog. Why do people insist on us cropping them? They are OUR dogs! I don't tell people what to do with theirs!

As for ear infections... it's called pay attention to your animal! Grace hasn't had any yet and we clean her ears all the time..

I LOVE THIS VIDEO. He's beautiful!! (Gracie is identical only female)

  • he* xd

  • haha she just drinkin xD cute

  • Dobermans look horrible with their ears cropped, It's illegal to do it in England, we can't even have the tails removed. With a few exceptions they can be removed. It's weird seeing a doberan now with a long thick tail.

  • leave him alone, its the owners choice whether or not to crop &/or dock the tail or leave the ears & tail natural. I think your dog is pretty & he looks happy & healthy to me which is supposed to be the most important thing.....oh & by the way, love the car!!!

  • my dog looks the same, great breed

  • Cute. Nice to see a Dobie w/o cropped ears.

  • First off, they do increase the chance, but not all dobermans have problems with their cropped ears if you keep the dog clean in general. Now, vets give minor pain medications to help with the pain, doing it as puppies is common. It is a common practice and vet practices are skilled in these types of procedures. Sometimes you don't have a choice about cropping or docking. We rescued our dobbie. He's both cropped, docked. he has NO problem whatsoever with his ears. It's extremely safe today.
