The Oversight Subcommittee on Domestic Policy is currently holding a hearing, "Hot Fuel: Big Oil's Double Standard for Measuring Gasoline." The hearing is examining high gasoline prices, specifically addressing the "hot fuels" problem -- during the summer, the amount of gasoline by weight in a gallon is less than the same gallon pumped during winter. Subcommittee Chairman Dennis Kucinich gives opening remarks.

  • Kucinich is the man!

  • Let us put the elite on notice. Through the veins of the middle class flows the same blood as is found in the elite. I myself share several ancestors with The Bush Family. Don't fuck with us.

  • Kucinich is a great beast of a congressman.

  • Real question being, how much would it cost to upgrade all the pumps nationwide.

And instead should be instead just adjust pricing without new infrastructure based online temperature forcasting.

Or better yet, demand that money in the form of a lumpsum to spend on getting us off of oil, and on to electricity.

Electricity costs about 50-70 cents a gallon.

  • Well, the obvious reason it's done in Canada is that they would lose money if it gets below 60 degrees ;D

  • Wow! I am PO'd about this! If they can do it in Canada, then why can't they do it here? Creeps!

  • When does it ever end with the oil companies...Thanks Dennis for bringing this to light
