The Unimog started in the late 1940's as a combination tractor / truck that German farmers could work in the field with and then drive into town as well. Mercedes took them over in the early 1950's. To this day they are a premier 4x4 work truck in Europe. I own a 1963 404S and it's still feels like half tractor and half truck, front and rear PTO, low speed gearbox, etc.

Im curious guys..... why did they make a Unimog in the first place? Like what problem was solved for Benz to create it? I love 'em anyways lol :D

OK. I'm not at all in to 4x4s, or off road...but this is just really damn impressive. Quite a truck.
