Much of an athlete's ability to jump explosively resides in his glutes and lower back. GHR (glute ham raises) are an excellent movement for directly developing these two areas simultaneously.

An essay detailing some basic progressions is available here:

The Xtreme Rings which have been used to build much of this athlete's upper body strength are available here:

  • This actually isnt that hard to do compared with the other videos this user has uploaded... theyre just normal back hyperextensions.

  • A back hyperextension does not contain a leg curl element; a glute ham raise does. This changes the movement dramatically

  • I'd like some more exercises for the legs

  • @kcbowers9 Judging by the name, I would say the Glutes and the Hamstrings. Also, going on what it says in the description I would say that it also incorporates some of the lower back.

  • so what muscles are involved in this

  • @twooos no they are glute ham raises....

  • @AleksTheBassMan Thanks!

  • @cedarbeam It's Creed - One Last Breath.

  • amazing for at boy at that age:)

  • i could do this before i started training, maybe i have a naturally strong hamstring

  • What's the music tract playing? It sounds cool.

  • not just glutes and hams, but the quadriceps and calf muscles (mainly the gastroc). basically all the muscles in the legs. how you use your trunk and arms also makes a difference.
