Very true there are not many who are better than Nishime and Oshiro. Actually in Kobudo I can not think of any who are better.  Maybe Kishaba Sensei.

What's so great about these real masters is that they are REAL masters. It's not about show, or flash, the way martial arts has been popularized. It's about the tradition, the form and technique, the efficiency and proficiency. It's about being real.

Nothing against Martial Arts as an art form, but I just like seeing real martial arts, and not what is essentially dancing.

I can think of several that are waaay better than him. Look at Oshiro Toshihiro and Nishime Sensei from Yamanni Chinnen Ryu, they are light years better than him

When I lived in Matayoshi sensei's dojo in 1985 for 1 year ( Utchi deshi ) , Oshiro zenei was my sempai , he was very nice and so good , fast and precise . I can't think of someone better than him in bo.
