Stormy Monday offers a great twist on a standard 12-bar blues in that it includes a series of alternate chords between bars 7-10: in bar 7, instead of staying on the I (one) chord as one normally would in a standard 12-bar blues, the I chord, G7, is played for the first half of the bar and the ii7 (two minor seven) chord, Am7, is played for the second half of the bar; bar 8 is split between iii7 (three minor seven), Bm7 and biii7 (flat three minor seven), Bbm7; bar 9 substitutes D7sus4 (or C/D) for D7; and bar 10 substitutes Cm7 for C7.

  • thank u

  • excellent playing

  • Dude, I'm going to damage my finger to play like that

  • I went to another lesson where it says guitar lesson in orange above. I don't know why, just curious. The guy showed a few other chords but kept stopping and going stopping and going. Andy Aledort is much more laid back. He plays for awhile then explains or vise versa. This is good for beginners and guitarist who kinda know the guitar already. Thanks Andy

  • @andyaledort you did vibrato a bit differently than usual at 0:46-0:47, the whole neck of the guitar shook. John Mayer does his vibrato like that all the time, I can't figure it out. super frustrating. got any advice?

  • some great ideas in this. Thanks!

  • Dats da blues right there boy!

    Play on playa, playa.

    Peace.

    ^_^

  • 0:42 is awesome. do you break that lick down somewhere?

  • andy! You rule. Still playing with Betts? Thanks for the lessons.

  • Andy you know you r a phenomenal player and instructor thanks for the post and also thanks for the two jimi DVDs really helped my playing
