Violin Concerto in G, Op. 3 No. 3 (RV 310) - 1. Allegro

Antonio Vivaldi

From L'Estro Armonico ('Harmonic Inspiration', a set of 12 concerti published by Vivaldi as his Opus 3.)

This piece is popular as a student concerto - after just two years of playing the violin, even I can already play most of this to a fairly acceptable standard! I am only uploading the first movement as it has a constant momentum, typical of Vivaldi's vigorous, inspiring music, full of daring twists, interesting accompaniment and scintillating pulsations - the epitome of Vivaldi's ever-wonderful and often essentially fun music!

Enjoy!

PS - I have recordings of many of Vivaldi's concerto collection Opuses -
Op. 3 - L'Estro Armonico (Harmonic Inspiration)
Op. 4 - La Stravaganza (The Extraordinary)
Op. 8 - Il cimento dell'armonia e dell'inventione (The Contest Between Harmony and Invention)
Op. 9 - La Cetra (The Lyre)
Also a CD of late violin concerti, full of some of Vivaldi's most exuberant ideas. Any requests from any of these collections I will gladly post :)

  • This peice is nice, but not that technically dificult to be honest, probably grade 6

  • Indeed, well often the nicest things are simple!

  • I really like this piece and I'm learning it now..

  • Addictive isn't it :) I can play most of it but it can be fiddly under the fingers! 3rd movement has tricky bits too :S

  • @LeinadAffar

No it's the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, though I have a lot of recordings by I Musici and am a great fan!

  • @thelightisahead Could this be I Musici? It sounds very similar to a 60's recording of the same concerto they made.

  • Listen to the album italian concertos

when alison balsom plays the trumpet solo.
