This is a tutorial on how to build a 3D virtual room and stage in Adobe After Effects, and then simulate a 360 degree camera movement around a live-action actor, as seen in my "360 Degree Camera Rotation" video.

This is my first tutorial ever, so if I leave out something important or you have any other questions please feel free to send me a message.

I feel intensely stupid about the uploading process for this video. I was obsessed with getting these tutorial videos up in HD, but after numerous tests I could only get short little clips to show up in HD. The full length videos never had the option, so I deleted them. Then I found out that it sometimes takes a while for the HD option in a video to show up, even when the standard quality version is already available. So I re-uploaded the videos, waited a while, and sure enough the HD option showed up. So all the other versions that I uploaded and then erased would have worked eventually, and all my uploading and deleting was a waste. As much as I think that I deserve severe punishment for my complete lack of patience, and my abundance of stupidity, I think I'm just going to try not to think about it.

  • hi great video with the 360 rotation can that be done in motion from final cut pro, again great video

  • Thanks. Sorry, but I've never used Final Cut Pro so I don't know what it can do.

  • can i ask you how much was Adobe after effects? Can you make basic movies on it like you can on window movie maker? Also, is it just like windows movie maker but better and more options? Thank you

  • I got a full, professional, licensed copy off of eBay for $340 when version 7 was new, but you can probably find 7 or a different older version for much less now. If you're a student, try an academic discount store.

It CAN be used like Windows Movie Maker to edit together and render, and I have done it, but it's not perfect for that purpose. It doesn't convert video very well, and previewing long compositions takes a long time. But it still does everything better than Movie Maker in my opinion.

  • It's mainly for creating intros, and yes, video editing as eXtremeDarian said, but mainly for creating animations, intros and stuff like that.

  • I think panning over the magic school would be scrumptious.

  • Hmmm. It might work, but it would probably necessitate repeatedly panning the frame during the magic school sequence.

    I'll think about it.

  • You could shoot them from a bee-gun.

  • It would be wonderful, I heartily recommend trying it.

  • If I figure out what you mean I might lose motivation, but since the abstract concept of 3D bees is in my brain now, I'm oddly motivated to try it.

    We'll see.
