Depends on the engine. a Vtec-e kicks in at a low RPM. but a B16a2 kicks in at 5800, and a B16b kicks in at 6500 RPM..

@nonsoundflux a slow car. lol. its a 2.0 NA engine. probably making around 230hp. brilliant engineering. you can strap and turbo or a SC on this engine and it destroys all. and he is making power, just not peak power. advantagous on a track. less shift = less time

Dude you're not making ANY power after 8 grand.
If it's taking you over 30 seconds to hit 160mph, this is by all accounts a slow car.
Upgrade to a longer final drive & 1st gear, and start shifting at 8k.
