You may have been doing carpentrey for some time but a knob is not a pull. A pull goes across the whole width of the cabinet door or drawer front. Any one can drill a hole. Try cutting a slot for a wooden drawer pull.

im going to assume he's been doing wood working for 20 minutes?
shouldnt you measure where the knob goes? instead of eyeing the hole?
