@scoopgirl89: In the book, he actually uses a riding crop and hits her. This scene is watered down compared to what goes on in the memoir.

This is one of my most favorite movies. I have seen it several times and each time, it just does something to me.

@kamalikaleela people's perceptions and points of view about sex have changed a lot over the last 25 years, when this movie came up,there was a lot of controversy and it was considered soft "pornography".No many women would have admited to like that back then,it was considered demeaning...but now looking at the internet....Oh ,how thing have changed, lol.

This movie has so many epic scenes. While most people deem the iconic food scene as the best, I love moments like this when Mickey loses himself and the 'line' becomes as blurry as Kim's tears and mascara. The sound of his leather belt slicing through the air and snapping against the hardwood, mere inches from her flesh. Oh. My. Gawd.

I haven't seen the sequel but I know what would make someone go back and find someone after all those years. These relationships don't come by that often and when you have shared that with someone you can desire anything but that again, though to recapture it is like a dream, you never can, but you may try.

@NYtoTX I believe the sequel picks up the years gone by and still thinks about Elizabeth... The plot tells that he was depressed and felt suicidal, filled with grief, shame, and guilt. That's when the euro trip comes in place.. But tell me this, how could you fall in love with someone and wined up playing the same game you did 12 years ago? On the first 9 1/2 weeks movie, you could tell from Elizabeth's emotions came from happy and positive to emotional train wreck! Total damage if you ask me...

@dannigurl06 Totally agree: She will find The One and he won't. I didn't think he was an asshole per se but he was definitely in control, and let's face it: If he were some wimp, it would not be so hot. But you are right in that everything was about HIM and what HE liked on her...etc. So yeah, I agree: Romantic whirlwind but on the end she did the right, gut wrenching thing. So the sequel is supposed to be horrid but I wonder what makes him decide to up and go try to find her years later.

@NYtoTX Yeah, I know... I got the movie on DVD... I have to admit, some of the scenes are pretty hot. The only thing I didn't like was Mickey Rourke's character as an wealthy, narcissistic, wall street asshole... But other than that it was a good movie! Somewhat romantic.. But John's emotionally alone and always will be
Who cares about this scene...I just can´t stop drooling all over my computer...Mickey was waaaay too hot in this movie!!!
