This handheld movie sequence is of an actual automobile stunt which was used in the James Bond film 'The Man with the Golden Gun'. The automobile stunt was created in 1970's at Calspan in Buffalo, NY as a validation test for the Highway Vehicle Object Simulation Model (HVOSM) computer program. The automobile stunt was conceived and created by Raymond R. McHenry, www.mchenrysoftware.com, via his HVOSM computer simulation model. The stunt was also used in a travelling automobile stunt show.

  • It was cool to see this. My grandfather is one of the engineers who designed this back at Calspan!

  • @tarantulatook who's your grandfather? s

  • Where's the stunt whistle?

  • @foxguy3001 If you review the extras on the DVD you'll find the director found that to be 'the worst decision' since of course it was a real stunt and the whistle detracted from hearing the engine revs as it rolled and landed.

  • what's the car?

  • The stunt was originally done with an AMC Javelin for the "Barrel Roll" in 1972 Thrill Show that debuted in the Houston Astrodome on Jan. 15, 1972. For the movie, a modified AMC Hornet Sportabout hatchback coupe was used.
