Cisco's approach to the Data Center with the Unified Computing System can be challenging to appreciate at first glance. The cloudy lenses of 'this is how it has always been done' can make it hard to realize that a lot has suddenly changed. The topics run much deeper than this one video will address -- but as a starting point for data center professionals or an introduction for someone new to the space -- this should be valuable.

Multiple advances that address specific bottlenecks created by server virtualization are tackled in this Fundamentals of UCS.

  • @Sheikhansen- Cisco's main competitors for UCS are HP, IBM and Dell. In that order.

  • Mr. Galendi - thank you for taking the time to comment. I do sound a bit cheesy - its sometimes hard to turn off. I am not an actor however, just a Cisco employee who has been telling technology stories for a long time now..but I have an incredible problem with how I 'say' bits and bytes. I know the difference..I just seem to say it wrong a lot. Nice thing is, we assume some intelligence in our audience. This kind of thing is so ludicrous that most people know it was not meant that way.

  • Great video! Thank you.

  • OK, This guy is an actor who does not know difference between bit and byte. Also, couldn't Cisco marketing make the script less cheesy. Next time have someone JUST TALK NORMAL.

  • who are the main competitor for CISCO UCS?

  • @dmillbank - thanks for the comment and thanks for watching! You are totally correct of course...we debated...I screw this up all the time and in the end, we left it as a test of the obvious knowledge we assume in our audience. You passed with flying colors! '-) -Robb

  • Great video. Explains UCS very well, but the present kept saying gigabits when referring to gigabytes. There is a huge difference between gigabit and gigabyte.
