Long Tubes on 06 Taco 4.0L

Put off-road headers on my already loud truck...yikes

I'm in ca and the long tubes seem too much and not street legal. I use mine as a truck but wonder if the short tubes are worth it performance wise? Maybe quieter?

@dgallegos4201 I have both, The long tubes are cheaper (if you cant weld that is, because the shorties require a lot of work to gets the cats on), the long tubes are bolt on (shorties aren't, as previously mentioned), the long tubes give a HUGE mid-range gain (I didn't feel much extra power with the shorties). Downsides are the long tubes are louder because of cat deletion and if you want the check engine light to go away you have to get rear o2 sensor simulators also due to cat deletion.

@Ill06Taco I keep the shorties around for smog, but I wish I wouldnt have paid the $1k to buy them and then have to drive far away to get them modified and installed. I wish I just went from stock manifolds to long tubes, but they werent available at the time.

oh yeah, big time. I couldnt stand it, but it was really loud and fun to mess with people for the short time I had it like this.

Sounds badass! I'm thinking of swapping my JBA shorties for the long tubes....I wont be running any cats at all though....I wonder if it will be TOO loud...

this is already too loud with cats on the y pipe and basically no muffler

Im running the shorties too with out cats and when I need the torque I hace a cut out at the Y... itsssssssssss fucken loud but will there be a difference with the upgrade to long tube with HP?
