madz alumni ito and not the current members..yup, it's a love song/ a courting song. the book "A Life Shaped by Music" which is about Maam OA and the madz states that mamayog akun is a courting song

I agree... its not a war song... i knew this song very much! Im a member of our Choir in MSU-IIT... we always sang this... we have our own version.. the authentic one... most the arrangers from Luzon, didn't even gives justice to the meaning... i strongly oppose, that this is a war song. and its not actually... "mamayug" means darling or love...

excuse me, it is neither UST nor UP who owned that song... it is originally composed and sang by the maranaos of MSU.. Mamayog Akun is a maranao serenade which means "My Love"..

i'm sorry to break this to you, but it is indeed a love song. sung by the Maranaos of Lanao, Mindanao. adapted by a scholar, sung by students of MSU in Marawi and later in Iligan.
"mamayug akun" is maranao for "Oh my darling" or "my love". this is a love song/courtship song... try looking that up.
