@luhluhleuty but it's perfectly possible to be hard woking, and work "strategically" as you put it and still not be able to afford healthcare. Their are people out their who if given a chance could be succesful and contribute alot to society but can't because of their situation are stuck and don't really have an escape route. Universal healthcare is for them. It saves lives and therefore is better. In your system people die who otherwise don't need to, in mine they don't. End of.

@OatSharpener I would suggest that people take responsibility for themselves and stop acting so helpless. I am dirt poor. I make $250 a week. I am currently working towards a bachelor's degree to improve my situation. The idea that "working hard" will improve yourself is flawed. You have you work strategically. But that's an entire other issue. Sadly it's one nobody seems to be concerned with.
-
@luhluhleuty It seems like your motive for not wanting Universal Healthcare is pure finacial selfishness. If society was truely meritocratic, as I am adamant that it should be, completely and abundantly so, and all someone had to do was work hard and they'd be able to afford their own healthcare then I would agree. But their are many, many people who work themselves like dogs and still can't afford it, I know plenty of them. Do you suggest they lay down and die to save you $200 a year?
-
@OatSharpener I completely disagree. Universal healthcare at it's base is a terrible idea. It's just one more thing that politicians are willing to spend other people's money on. I can buy my own insurance. In fact, I do have my own. So why do they need to make a bunch of paperwork and employ a bunch of people to provide something that is already being provided by private citizens?
-
@luhluhleuty If I make you pay taxes in exchange for the protection of a military and a police force, and the arbitrator that is the courts then how am I taking credit for your work? Sounds more like a business transaction to me.
Taxes are the one bill that people must be forced to pay so that they have the freedoms to say no to others. They are a necessary evil. Even as a libertarian I think universal healthcare is good for a society, although maybe not in America's case.
-
@OatSharpener Because money is a numerical representation of all the work you do for society. When the government takes your money, it is essentially taking credit for your work.
Great job. Please keep exposing their propaganda BS.
