i really hope more cars join the F1 world championship because this reminds me of what it's like to have more than 20 cars-awesome

yea but with the new 40 million dollar cap Renault and Ferrari have threatened to leave. so whats better having Ferraris or 26 cars?

well obiviously you need Ferrari-the most prestigious racing marque in the world but why 40 mil, that seems like too low for Formula 1 teams. I wonder if something like 150 mil euros would be a big save and acceptable as well?

well its 40 and i thought it would be good. because if you do take the 40 mill way you get more technical freedom. if you wanna spend as much as you want you get less technical freedom. i thought teams like ferreri would be all over that. I still think its a good idea whether ferrari like it or not. they threaten to leave but i dont think they will. where else are they going to get the recognition they do from F!?

There was an interview with Alesi in F1Racing magazine quite a while ago... he said as a boy he wanted to drive for Ferrari, and thought at the time he had more chance of being offered a world championship car a second time than a Ferrari a second time!

Hunt didnt like Patrese due to the fatal Ronnie Petersen incident, he blames Patrese for the accident and always held a grudge until his death.

That was indeed a mystery, if I had it my way, I would have teamed Alesi with Williams in 1990. Him joining Ferrari with their record of unparalleled reliability probably contributed to me not having babies till now.

Good point! Although, he was reckoned, when he joined Williams, to be closer to Schumacher in terms of raw speed than anyone, so one can understand Frank's decision. The fact that he under-performed quite badly, well, I can't put my finger on that.

It's significant to me though, that Frentzen won more races for Jordan than Williams, and did well in both of his spells at Sauber...

well, I would think that Frank had a record of controversial driver choices.....how did Frenzen do with Williams?

Sorry, but that comment by James Hunt 'I should think Frank Williams must be kicking himself that he didn't hire proper drivers' is far too harsh.

I understand where his dislike of Patrese came from, (however badly founded it may have been), but both of these drivers were proven race-winners, even though they weren't up to the Senna/Prost/Mansell level - but then very few people will come close to achieving that!

Still, I miss Hunt;s commentary - he certainly never minced his words!
