A network is a company that provides programming to numerous stations.
A channel may take shows from the network or program itself on its own.
-
Sorry, what's the difference? (A genuine question, not sarcasm)
Yeah, Seven copied, but they made it sound heaps better (Disclaimer: Yeah, I'm an Aussie).
-
Thats mostly because hat the owned Seven Network stations broadcast on VHF channel seven.
NBC is a network and purely a network, NBC does not call itself a channel on air because it isnt one.

Perth's goes "Live across WA from the studios of Seven Perth, Rick Ardon and Susannah Carr", shows the top stories, then finishes with "you're watching Seven News".

That's also true, but channel could be also be used to describe the two networks. Network Seven Australia sometimes go by Channel Seven. It's mentioned quite often in the Adelaide news opening. , "Live from the Adelaide Studios of Channel 7 this is 7 News with...."

Melbourne Sadly no longer does the Nationla 4:30 News. It was moved up to Sydney. But on the 4:30 News it just says, "This is 7s 4:30 News with..." Melbournes 6pm says, "Live from Melbourne, this is Seven News with...." Adelaide say, "Live from the Adelaide Studios of Channel 7 this is 7 News with...." Perth have something simular but still use the 2004 intro. The rest just say "This is 7 News with......"
Hope it helps
