Martti Ahtisaari Nobel

Martti Oiva Kalevi Ahtisaari (pronounced [ˈmɑrt:i ˈoivɑ ˈkɑleʋi ˈɑhtisɑ:ri]?·i) (born on June 23, 1937) is a former President of Finland (19942000) and a United Nations diplomat and mediator, noted for his international peace work. His most recent appointment was as UN Special Envoy at the Kosovo status process negotiations, aimed at resolving a long-running dispute in Kosovo which declared its independence from Serbia in 2008. Later that year he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize "for his important efforts, on several continents and over more than three decades, to resolve international conflicts".

I remember when he was the president of the Republic of Finland. He was criticized due to his weight. I was a teenager then, but I was like "WTF?? what does his weight or looks have to do with him being a president??" Also, his son was complained about, that he did civil service and not military (we have conscription in Finland). Nobody has complained that the current president or her daughter didn't do military service!!!!1!!111!!111! Tarja H is nice, but not Miss Universe. *rolling her eyes*
