I am a professional Soldier and was shocked and horrified when I heard of this being done by my Army. I thought we were the good guys.
They sold us on the necessity of this as "saving American lives" and those of us who had a problem with it were labeled as traitors.
I know a little about SERE which includes training on resisting torture. Torture is in-efficient and produces faulty intelligence; you will say anything to make it stop. It is only good for eliciting CONFESSIONS.

What beach? Pacific or Atlantic? The reason for not prosecuting Cheney is simple: Bush informed all relevant Senators and Congressmen - somewhere I even have a list of their names - of their enhanced interrogation techniques. Nobody, no Democrat, objected. now THAT would be an embarrassing defense.
