Abstinence- prevents std and pregnancy 100%. Feasibility 0%. You expect the common people to practice this? This is wishful thinking.

Monogamy- prevents std 100% only if BOTH partners practice it. But could still cause population explosion. Feasiblity is very low. Most people would not adhere to this.

Condom/Contraceptives- Prevents std and pregnancy 95-99%. Feasibility is very high. They are the most practical and pragmatic way of controlling population and spread of std.

The problem with the church is it's trying to solve real-world problems with unrealistic solutions. It has to stick to things that WORK!

Too bad that before the explosion of contraception in the 1960's, monogamy and no birth control worked really well. The only difference now is that people (liberals) seem to think everyone is as weak as them, and thus cannot keep their vows or abstain from sex. There is also Natural family plaaning that works 99% of the time which is as good as the best contraception, but it does not pose the terrible health risks and there is nothing immoral about it.
