A short discourse on reincarnation and how we can begin to understand the concept by using science and logic. As always thanks for watching! :D

Time is infinite:
(quote)
"Today" means boundless and inexhaustible eternity. Periods of month and years and of time in general are ideas of men, who calculate by number; but the true name of eternity is "Today". - Philo

Philo made this statement during his life time (20bc - 30ad), nearly 2000 thousands years later Einstein proves it mathematically.

Check Amazon for "Chronos" amazing book regarding this topic.
And for more quotes like Philo's check out "The Enlightened Mind" by Stephen Mitchell

  • ...hmmmm, another self-appointed guru! and one that actually distorts the Buddha's teaching and thus misleads others; time to educate yourself first!

  • @9samten Just sharing a few thoughts on this, nothing more nothing less! :)

  • so beautifully stated.

  • Thank you Gata! :) Love and blessings to you!

  • thanks for your video.

I think u should put all this information into book form, you know how much good this ancient teaching of the Buddha and your insight in science will bring to many people, you got the gift of word in speech.

you can bring a lot of good, with your gift and talent.

  • I disagree with you when you say that it's okay to take the Buddha's word by faith, even on the topic of reincarnation. Everything must be experienced and felt on a personal level before it can be believed. That makes the issue of reincarnation one of the hardest ideas in Buddhism to logically argue for, since it's pretty hard to actually see my consciousness in the past or the future in a different vessel.

I'm still searching for that experiential basis for reincarnation myself.

  • I just came to realise that: Judgements or prejudices that we experience are never meant to be proved true or false. Many many of us as humans pass judgement on everything, vehemently, jumping to conclusions. This is a very dysfunctional habit. Society is ill with this automatic thinking. Why is it important to judge anything at all, when we understand that subjectivity plays a huge part in the conditions of human experience. And surely there are more of these negative behaviours of 'thought'

  • This is how I imagined it, when crossed with science, what you suggest makes the most sense for the meaning of reincarnation. I came to this conclusion myself before when I regarded your video thumbnail / title on the listings and decided to play and see if the result was the same Surprise! it was very similar. I think this gives credence to ideas, when they are created independently and brought together, the same 'conclusion' is found to have been made.

    Really enjoying your videos, thanks

  • @9samten please do not be so ignorant

  • get rid of the "you know" brain farts!!! speak, fluently, with pauses and flow smoothly!

  • Respond to this video... perhaps you should check out DTSTRAINPHYLOSOPHY. ON NATURALISTIC BUDDHISM. The Budda never said to take any thing he said on faith and in fact he said the opposite.

  • @9samten i'm sorry but what do you mean by consciousness ? if you say it is immaterial that tells me what it is not, not what it is. i'm not aware of anything other than physical (energy or matter). faith is not a path to truth, but the surrender of it.

  • Reincarnation/Rebirth and Karma are the most speculative doctrines of Buddhism, & as an Agnostic,I don't think it's wise to accept any afterlife theory without definitive evidence.Faith is insufficient,& the anecdotal indications that R/R exist are inadequate. If you dep. upon faith rather than your own investigation, then you might as well accept and follow every claimant to divine authority out there. Those who tell you to have faith simply want to stop you from asking questions.

  • @GeraldP1983

.......(or will be part of) all sort of things like humans, flowers, air, water, stars etc. Because consciousness is eternal (it's just inevitable that consciousness will arise from matter at some point of time) I will gain consciousness and become "alive" again after death. But the "me" I will be after death has nothing to do with the "me" I was on earth. Do you understand what I mean? What do you make of it?

  • @GeraldP1983

Thanks for the great video, I really appreciate your thoughts even though I don't believe in reincarnation the way you do. In my opinion there is just no evidence for the idea of reincarnation based on karma. I believe that life itself is eternal but it's not really reincarnation. I mean when I die the matter and atoms I consist of will continue on and so they will eventually become .......

  • Superb. Keep up the good work.
