  • I live in the USA but when I was a kid in the 80's and 90's I used my dad's shortwave radio. We used to pick up the BBC world service faintly and I remember that every hour there would be this really eerie music. It was the sound of a wood block being struck every second and it was just a repeated tone and the broadcaster would say......Welcome to the BBC world service. The time now is one o'clock. Does anybody remember that or know how to hear it again?

  • @jbjindra Do you mean the BBC interval signal. Search on Google

  • "Haven't got any scripts Mike!" VT totally saved this show. What a shambles!

  • the countdown lady sounds kinda hot

  • @ShutThatDoor He quit because of one particular non-entity, though...

  • Philip Hayton was a great newsreader, too good for today's non-entities in TV!

  • Oh, sssssssssSOD IT!

  • In This Clip, From 0:12 To 1:56, It Was BBC-TV's BBC News' The 1 O'Clock News Video Open From Thursday Afternoon, December 25, 1986.

  • Hayton does brilliantly here. I think I'd probably die of a massive heart attack the first time the director said "there is NO VT". Either that or run away. Or cry.

  • Where did you get this?
