How to make your own minecraft texture pack

This is a tutorial on how to setup and start to create your own texture pack.

Winrar- on the page find the English section (or your country) and click your download. make sure its either 32-bit or 64 depending on your system!!!

FAQ :
How do i get rid of white backgrounds?
In paint.net use the magic wand tool to select the white background. for example the holes in a door. click the hole which should be white and it should highlight. press delete. a grey and white checkerboard background should, appear, this means it ahs been done correctly.

Update problems, items bieng invisible:
This happens. because maybe a new block lets say the bed was added. it was put into the game and your texture pack didnt have the drawing for it, so its invisible. what you must do is do the process that i did. like you are going to mae another texture pack. Extract it. open the terrain folder on the new one you just made. find the block you want to add to YOUR texture pack. so hughlight it with teh highlight select tool. copy, and paste into the SAME position on YOUR texture pack. you can then delete that texture pack you got the block from, its no longer needed.

The texture pack is not appearing in the game?:
When you select add to archive make sure you click the .zip one. not rar

How to make a higher res texture pack 32x32 - 64x64 :
The way i do it is i downlaod some one elses high res texture pack. for example misas texture pack. and then use it as a template...

Paint.net doesnt work:
make sure you downloaded the correct version, 64-bit windows, 32-bit windows. if it still doesnt work try GIMP. type gimp into google. its another free picture editing software but i havent used it before so you will hav to experiment with it.

How do you change the top of the grass block? How do you change tree leaf colour?
I honestly cant figure this completely out myself. but in one of the files there is one called grass colour, and one called foliage colour. its like a gradient image. I am guessing changing this changes the colour of the grass/foliage.

@XKDUBSTEP Yes, agreed. but some people might want to follow the law. And i hardly think people need all these options when all you really need is a pencil that does one pixel at a time.

im working on a texture pack (and .lang file)

to change diamonds look and name to something else.

its a lot easier with photoshop, seeing as you just select the block, and choose

a colour overlay, then make all the contents red/blue/yellow e.c.t , the surrounding stone won't be affected, but the lines of colour will be red/blue/yellow e.c.t

@XKDUBSTEP I assume people pirate it because of the sheer amount of tutorials on youtube on how to do it. Photoshop is great, i have it. and anyone can use it if they have it, but this is a texture pack tutorial so i must make it with an editing software that a lot of people own, or can download it easily for free.
