From L.I. New York 'where Leslie is from ,also seen Him w/ The Vagrants in late 60s and He was playin those heavy chords then, loud and great riffs but I think HE would tell you: ALVIN 'S the man .Leslie was the first, real heavy guitar player from that area ,and was hip to the British invading /Great Times..

Leslie and Alvin got along very very well on this tour. Leslie explained to Howard Stern during an interview that Alvin and he had a blast.

Alvin is about speed, and great Rock. Leslie is about tone and vibrato, and great Rock.

Together they were electric.

Ten Years After, Mountain, Wishbone Ash & Spirit...great bands that deserve more props.Nice that Alvin & Leslie ( who lost the weight ) are still out there.I saw Randy in Hawaii just before his death - R.I.P. Can't remember the name of the Spirit song but it is note for note borrowed for Stairway to Heaven...

I grew up listning to hedrix, clapton, beatles, then alvin came along, he just never got in the hit stream, west was heavy rocking, I still consider alvins guitar solo on id love to change the world, with ten years after, one of my favorite solo,s of all time.
