Get the latest Penn EVERYDAY: http://crackle.com/c/Penn_Says I sat on TV, while my hero Tommy Smothers yelled in my face how pissed off he was at me for appearing on Glenn Beck. It broke my heart. When Penn Jillette has an opinion it's a safe bet he won't hold back. Upload your own reaction and get the rants rolling! Tune in each week for new insight and agitation. • You're alright Penn. The message is still the message.

If Tommy Smothers is wrong, he's wrong. He's human. He can be wrong. So what? You're not him. You know the score.

And one more thing: As an atheist, you should be totally fine with yet another "idol" going down in flames if you get me.

Go on the Glenn Beck show and whateverthehell other show you want and give 'em Penn times ten!

  • Penn Jillette has got to be one of the fairest political commentators I've ever seen. Even when I disagree with him, I can't help but respect his viewpoint.

  • Penn, I've never seen you this upset. I just wanted to give you a hug. You keep doing what you think is right Penn, because a lot of people agree that it is one of the right ways to go about things.

I think you just happened to find a weak point in your childhood idol. I'm not trying to be argumentative or anything, but I feel everyone's child idol is revealed as not absolutely perfect at one point or another. I know a couple of mine have already, and I'm not even 30 yet.

    Keep on, Penn.

  • I'll bet it felt like being yelled at by the real Santa. I can see your point though. It kind of makes me think of religious people "loving the sinner and hating the sin." Ditto to Exvictus's remark about being a *good* influence on the misguided.

  • Though I doubt Penn himself will ever see this, I hope someone does....We've all heard the ridiculous thing our parents or others said about "don't be around this person or that person, because they're a bad influence". Well, why can't I be a GOOD influence on them?

The same holds true here..Those that watch Glenn Beck will only be exposed to what Penn has to say, IF HE'S THERE. If he's not, then they will only be exposed to what Glenn Beck has to say.

  • Good for you, Mr. Jillette. As a libertarian with a "spiritual" bent rather than a "religious" one, I guess I likely side with Glenn Beck's perspectives more frequently than I side with yours. But I must commend you on your recognition (and I hope you'll pardon the analogy) that a good missionary goes to where the sinners are. If Mr. Smothers feels *his* time is better spent "preaching to the choir", that's his decision.

Your exchanges with Mr. Beck are never less than thought-provoking.

  • The compliment: You're a real 'book-smart' guy. Always telling the truth is the first-step towards true-Humility. (+I heard the current Pope's brother, a Priest too, say, 'Only fools & children always tell the Truth.)

The truth (not said as an insult): You had/have the wrong idols. A person can be smart but NOT very wise. There is Justice at the end & Truth always wins out.

If someone loves God, they'll love ALL people. Liberals> hate a lot of people. I do NOT hear any real hate from you

  • keep going on Beck. f what other people think

  • This is Penn as his most thoughtful, and I really appreciate this atypical take of Penn being here.

  • woah penn break down

  • The problem with idolizing people is that people are flawed, it's one thing I envy about the religious, that what they worship can never disappoint. In that vein, it sounds to me like Tommy buys into his own form of dogma. Sure, he might be an atheist, but if he refuses to listen to a message, if he refuses to focus on truth and reason, then he is just as close minded as they come. I'm sorry about the shitty experience though, you're a funny, smart guy, and I say fuck him, personally.

  • yo penn whered you come up with that noise at the beggining and end of all your vids? pacific garden mission chicao, IL???
