Here's some footage I shot during a recent trip to Hawaii on my new D300s. You're watching lava slowly drip into the sea at the Hawaii Volcanos National Park. Mostly used the 18-200 lens to get the wider angles.

  • starting from 0:27 it's a really great low light shot.

did you lock the auto exposure?

there doesn't seem to be any artifacts or gain.

    very nice.

  • Is there a way to lock the autoexposure on there? That's my single greatest frustration with the d300s.

What I did was move the exposure retical to the darkest portion of the frame to prevent it from adjusting on me. Works great here but it totally botched a sunset on me due to the shifting light.
