Movies To Video Games Reviews
Review #20

Batman for the Commodore 64, Amiga, Atari ST and other fine systems, made by Ocean Software, is fully reviewed and analyzed as compared to the actual movie itself.

Feel free to comment. More movies to video games reviews coming soon.. suggestions and feedback welcome and encouraged.

In the means of saving space the score tallies used to get to the final score are listed here instead of in the review itself. They are on a 1-10 scale with 10 being the best score possible:

Story Accuracy to the Movie 5.0
(All five situations will relate to the movie in someway but there is no story or anything else to really submerse you into the feel of things. You do repetitive things over and over and the adventure is over just as it starts. Its mostly there but its bare minimum at times too..)

Music Soundtrack Accuracy to the Movie's 2.0
(Its more of a disco soundtrack then something from the Batman film. You won't hear the theme anywhere here that's for sure. The music isn't even the dark and dreary feel to it. But that's not to say the music is bad. If you wanted to hear a more upbeat and adventurous type of 70's theme for a Batman movie this will do that well..)

Game Difficulty 5.0
(For such a short game its actually a bit hard. Play control issues will be annoying as will the time limit. Its not impossible to beat, but luck plays a big part in things as well as repeated playing to learn where and how things are done. )

Overall Fun 4.5
(Its middle of the road. It has originality and you as Batman so that isn't too bad. But its short, repetitive and frustrating. With no continues you better be ready to focus as you play. It has its fun moments and does at least try to be a fun Batman based game. But with so many other Batman choices out there, this won't be a must play for many.)

  • You'd buy it if it was a bargain basement price??

The game was given away for Free on the Amiga. How much cheaper do you want it?

And please explain what other Amiga games at the time would have blown it out of the water, you seem quite the Amiga expert.

  • Funny you should mention that. I did own both an Amiga 1000 and Amiga 500 and had many games. Stay tuned for more Amiga reviews in the very near future :)

But, yes Amiga was a great computer for its time. A great one indeed. We can have private talks about good and bad Amiga games elsewhere if you would like. Always up for talks on that computer and other systems I grew up with.

    Thanks for your feedback!!

  • Why do Americans have a problem with Ocean? They made some awesome titles over the years.

  • I had this game. The Amiga version was amazing. And as a 12 year old child I didn't care at all about the simplicity of the game, nor would I have complained about the repetitiveness of each level, the music, ect. I was playing Batman for Pete's sake! Looking back now 20 years after the fact it looks pretty cheesy, but I still spent many hours playing it at the time and enjoyed it a lot. I'm just glad I never had the misfortune of playing the crappy C64 version

  • should have made the background music a little quiter.

  • @PyramidHead87 Cannot unhear.

  • @RichXbox360 LMAO!!!

  • @ScrewAttackEurope The Yanks are stupid, I know I'll get flamed for that, but I'm past caring what people on the Internet say or think about me so yeh.

  • @RichXbox360 Yanks or Ocean?

I personally think that Ocean deserve a lot more credit in gaming history than what they got. They nurtured a lot of major talent we have today.

  • Grr FFS STFU about the Amiga! The Atari ST had better games.

  • @ScrewAttackEurope Ocean was based in Manchester, England, dunno why the Yanks hated them, but they're stupid anyway.

  • A 1000? that is pretty obscure, most people either had a 500 or a 1200, must admit I had a 600 as a kid.

The Amiga was an awesome machine, it really held it's ground in the 16 bit days and faired quite well in the 32 bit years too. But sure if you ever wz\nt a chat dude!
