Hi all,

This is a proof of concept and guide video based on the Hangar and Fractal Antenna Design.

The DIY antenna was made at a cost of S$8/- from parts which you can purchase at Sim Lim Tower and it works as well as if not better then a Commercial Antenna for HDTV which cost S$120/-

Note: Your HDTV must bear the DVB sign in order to connect the antenna directly to the TV. DVB means your TV has a in build Digital Tuner.

+ point
1) Low Cost
2) Easy to make (less then 30mins),
3) Signal is Strong and no skipping and no 230v power needed.

- Point
1) Ugly as hell (But i just throw it behind my tv cabinet where no one to see.)
2) Needs a separate Muxer for Combining your HDB Socket + DIY Antenna to TV. So you can see Analogue and Digital transmission at the same time.

Enjoy

Regards
Mark.

  • This is NOT ruckman's design. It is a variation of a bow-tie design.

  • Hi rengaweoj,

Well, this is not ruckman's design, wrote that on the Info Panel on the right

This was a experiment to create a Hybrid of both Bow Tie and Fractal antenna design and see how it works. It does work but not as well as i hope it to be. This mainly due to the conductor used.

In Ver2.0 I used Bow Tie design only + a different conductor and It gave better performance. To see that video please go to 0.02sec of this video and you will see a pop up which has the link to Ver 2.0 video.

  • nice man now i may watch HD5

  • Welcome

  • 42 Inch TV.

  • Hi Angel,

The Balun Transformer i bought it on the 4th floor of Sim Lim Tower, can't recall the shop name, but its on the right after you go up the escalator. It sells audio equipment and mics and speakers and stuff.

As for the Material behind, surprise surprise its is just piece of Art and Craft Thick cardboard.

Using metal backing will short the signal to ground, so please do not use a conductive surface material.

  • Hi all,

Sorry for late reply been really busy..

This antenna can currently receive HD5, as there's only one HD channel so far.

Well can't really comment on your analogue antenna being unable to receive singapore signals. There's no reason why you can't.. Sorry.

On why you are receiving MY Channels.. Likely, you are living up north near woodlands or yishun, where Malaysia signal is much stronger.

  • I got a Toshia REGZA 32AV550E I want to get local channels like channel 5 on my tv as i am a child and i got the 32" for my bday and i can't afford cable. I bought this 22$ antenna and it seems to be only receiving malaysian channel. Please help me. This antenna is a Nushi NS-218 Japan make. Ty

P.S - It is an indoor antenna
