All modern mma fighters train in bjj or some form of ground fighting (including the guy who won this fight), which is why videos like this are so fucking stupid. The "bjj guy" lost because he was too one dimensional and couldnt handle him on the feet. BJJ doesn't suck, being a one dimensional fighter in a multi dimensional fight does.

People will use video's like this to put down one fighting art or another. The plain fact is that even the greatest fighters don't always get it right every time. A mistimed shoot, punch, kick, being slightly off your game, and even the best can get caught. One of the most famous boxing knockdowns was done by Henry Cooper on the jaw of the then Cassius Clay. Cooper wasn't in the same class as Ali, but he still knocked him down (admitedly Ali went on to win the fight).

Machida is the exception to the non-Kyokushin Karate in MMA. Kyokushin guys have been well represented since the days of Bas Rutten. GSP is a current champ who has a heavy Kyokushin background. Like 40% of K-1 champs are Kyokushin Karate as well.

Well this is a fight in Brazil, and BJJ had already been around for a loooong time. That's a young Wanderlei Silva dishing out the punishment there, and Mr. Axe Murderer was quite familiar what he was up against.

best mma styles (i think) are:bjj,kick/thai/box,kyokushi­n,wrestling,judo,sambo etc.

@momo200090 Not only do I know of kyokushin, but I practiced it for 2 years. We r in agreement here kyokushin is a more hard style karate. GSP & Dolph Lungren have blk belts in the art. BTW when asked about his Expendables cast mates Randy Couture said Dolph was the realest of the lot. Anyway, after I saw UFC 2 I switched to BJJ (well, 1st japanesse style, until I found a bjj instructor). 4 me it is most effective. Other forms of karate / kung fu r 2 fancy & convaluted.

@cfrancisco74 i'm not even practicing karate i'm a judo white belt and a wrestler but i know what you mean sport karate sucks but not kyokushin or shotokan karate.

i know kyokushin karate it's full-contact it's more like kick box.

do you know k-1 ? all the champs in k-1 are kyokushin/muay thai guys.

striking arts are better if you are fighting more than 1 fighter.

Sure all martial arts r great when u have been training for years believing lies & thinking u are learnng to defend ur self. Then 1 day u get into a fight & the bullshit kicks & punches & tiger claws u learned from some sensei who has probably never been in a real fight DOES NOT WORK! Then a week later u start learning TESTED & PROVEN techniques (ie BJJ). Sure all martial arts r great. Just not in a real fight! BITCH!
