Not an expert but I think it's an "liuto attiorbato".
They usually have pairs of strings in the upper courses but a lot of players play them with single courses all the way down (like Luca Pianca). Edin seems to have a hybrid stringing approach with pairs of strings in the diapason and single strings further up. Interesting compromise, I like it.
