AFHS Marching band 2008: The Island @ BYU

The American Fork High School marching band performing their show entitled "The Island" by John Meehan: Mvt. 1:Quiet Night at Sea and The Storm, Mvt. 2:Exploring the Island Mvt. 3: Remembering home and The natives Mvt. 4:Rescued. The Band received captions in Musical performance, Colorguard, Visual performance, and Percussion, finishing in 1st place with a score of 926.

what is the solo instrument at the beginning?

It's an Oboe and Bassoon duet....but the mic wasn't working for the bassoon and the oboe was having issues because of the cold.

percussion sounds like a train wreck.... learn to tune the instruments properly... and try to play clean... too bad they arent on the same level as the rest of the band...

i wish we were this good. but granted, our marching band program just started 4 years ago and we only have 38 people in it. we performed our whole show last night:) weve imrroved quite a bit though

coming from a 3A band, Let me say this. American Fork IS amazing. They work hella hard. Davis is also pretty damn good. These 2 bands are consistantly fighting and let me tell you, some years are better than others. AF's "Greatest Generation" brought me to tears. It was after MY home competition that the accident happened and to see them pull forward stronger than before was amazing. I can honestly say that I've seen some beautiful things come from Davis too. so chill! we do this cuz we love it!

@JakeBros3 Actually yeah, I DID cross the fifty. A lot. I'm a clarinet player. And I'm sure you can't tell what instrument people are playing as you're watching this. The brass and woodwinds switch sides completely and then all mesh together. Sorry you're retarded and don't know what you're talking about. AND we almost always played while we marched. It was one thing we begged Mr. Miller not to do anymore. So eat it.

Marching band isn't about the 3-7 peoples opinions that score your show or what trophies you get. It's about entertaining the thousands of people you perform for each year.
