Regan was still a big government Republican. War on drugs anyone? He used the Government to dictate morality, and push a pro-interventionist military presence. Reagan was the man that suggested drug testing. Reagan assaulted individual liberty.

I really don't know what is going through these people's heads. I ran into a few people like this at the convention. And below there's a guy saying the NI4D is statist. The problem is a lot more than ignorance. I think these people are perpetually stuck in a protest mode, so even the concept of direct democracy is quite frightening as it would mean accountability for their own actions. Perpetual injustice is their comfort zone--that is the (big-L) Libertarian way.

Gravel is a legend, you don't know jack.
-
This is pathetic. Why would they let that idiot Gravel associate with the Libertarian party?
"We all know that money in politics is what corrupts politics" Uh, no. Its the other way around Congressman! Politics in money is what corrupts money.
Just goes to show you how bad a political organization can get without a proper philosophical basis - and just a dogmatic "love for liberty" instead.
Gravel is a liberal idiot and the Libertarians deserve what they get with him.

Why Gravel's NI4D is not Libertarian but Statist. Listen and you will see why the mob rule Gravel suggest is not liberty minded.

The sad part of your comment is that you blame Reagan for the Bush disaster. There was a time when vice presidents just weren't presidents after that... and Reagan was definitely running against Bush.
-
good god that man said reagen does he not remember that he was the demon that put bush sr as his vice president the devil who walks the earth geez not very libertarian to honor the man that turned the emerial presidency into a virtual monarchy

Make no mistake about it...I am a die hard Libertarian and have been for 25 years...until last year when I registered Republican so I could vote for Ron Paul! I never said I was a Barr supporter and feel there were better choices! Maybe he has seen the light??? I understand that Barr also voted for this idiotic war in Iraq and has also voted to continue this idiotic war on drugs!!! (I am very anti-drug! but very pro choice!) My God...how long is this BULLSHIT going to continue?
-
Two words: Patriot Act.
Barr signed it. Now he claims to be against it.

Gravels finished! The LP could have gotten a better candidate than Barr but I am very glad...Mike did not get it! He is no Libertarian and he is a socialist and a globalist to boot!
Ughh, Root means well, but his demeanor is very abrasive. He just comes off as obnoxious to me. On the other hand, while they may have differing policies, a Gravel/Barr ticket seems like the wisest choice. They've both made names for themselves in politics and they have more rounded-out perspectives on the issues.
