@gulchen123 It is telling you that you are playing an E. Depending on the tuner you have, the 1 either refers to the 1st string being E, or it is the 1st octave E. Regardless, it is registering an E and it has nothing to do with fingering a note. I hope that helps!
My violin tuner keeps saying my a string is just # sign & my d is c and g is f.i am afraid of tuning it with the pegs because it broke before but i tried again, & i did what you said i loosened it first,and then tuned it but i can't get it passed c for some reason, its either b or c... & i had it tuned a few days ago by someone who sells,builds,& repairs violins...i just don't know if this is a big problem,it does sound odd to me which is why i got the tuner..help would be appreciated.thanks.
@GothicLoser411 It sounds like you need to have someone help you tune it with the tuner. If you can go back to the person who tuned it for you, see if they can watch YOU try to tune it with the tuner and tell you what you need to do. This way you will know if there is something wrong with your tuner, or if you just need help learning how to use it.
My tuner says IE or 1E sometimes.
What does it mean? Does it mean that I am on E string or am I on first finger on E string?

@blueiis2
If I get you right it is an open E for violin. It says also 2A, 3D and 4G. I guess all are just open for violin.
