Tom Waits songs are generally difficult to cover, but Norah Jones does it very well on this one:D

I would never refer to anything Norah does as a "cover" (although technically it would be correct). She has such a unique voice and style, whatever she sings seems quite fresh and new.

@jets60: Tom Waits I Iike but you can walk home with him. Norah I love and I prefer to walk home with her whether it's the long way or a shortcut.

I don't think artists do covers because they are trying to mimic the original. I think they do them becasue they love the original and want to share it with their audience who may not have run across it otherwise. This is a great song and I enjoy both versions for differnt reasons. I just enjoy looking at Nora more than Tom.
