Dershowitz says that in extreme circumstances the use of torture can be justified. But he expresses his disappointment that the presidential veto was upheld.

Dershowitz makes a valid point in showing how torture can achieve some sort of preventative measures against future terrorist attacks; this much is indisputable. However, what I can't agree with is the act of sinking as low as the perceived enemies. It is not enough to say that other Arab nations use torture even if it is to a greater extent; this seems like third grade logic. It's like justifying robbery by pointing out that someone else is a murderer. The ends simply don't justify the means...
