@deadlock241 actually, I grew up a mile from where this happened. I wasn't born until '78, but the runway and part of the ramp were still around.

What amazes me is that in the 4 years they spent planning this, no one ever bothered to talk to a single scientist or aeronautical engineer. One look at that car, and anyone with even the most rudimentary understanding of aerodynamics (as in - has made a working paper aeroplane) could tell them that their $1,000,000 had been wasted.
