by Michael Miller through Rev. Dr. James Kenneth Powell II, opensourcebuddhism.org. This piece examines the origins of the Shaolin order and the founding of the Chan Meditation sect of Chinese Buddhism. Daoist body practices account for this martial arts tradition in Buddhism which will spread eventually to the Ninja, Samurai and beyond.

  • Hmmm... I don't know haha I do not really know much about Shinobi history. It's kind of a distorted topic, I feel like there's a little info here and there. But basically when I tried to study ninjas, all I got was "We kinda think this is what they did, but we don't really know..." No one really knows exactally what they did for training etc, and I think that's the way the Ninjas wanted it haha I'm sure they did zazen, like samurai. It's much easier to be ready to die when you do zazen =)

  • @GuamKomudo

That sounds crazy. It is really intense but how does the ninja relate?

  • Look up Zen Buddhism. Most of Japanese Buddhism is known as Meditation Buddhism. Zen Monks are known as Meditation Monks, because Zen is simply Meditation. Look up Zazen (Seated meditation) this is basically 99% of Japanese Buddhism, straight up meditation, for... HOURS... And HOURS!!!! YOU SIT FOREVER AND EVER AND YOUR BUTT HURTS REALLY BACK AND YOUR BACK STARTS TO GET ALL STIFF BUT YOU STILL GOTTA DO IT EVEN FOR MAYBE 14 HOURS STRAIGHT!!! T.T But seriously, it's hard, but it's Zen... >.>

  • The audio is horrible. Can't understand half of what he is saying.

  • Do you have any articles on Buddhism in regards to the Ninja and Samurai? I'd love to read about them

  • Oops...I think there is a problem maybe with my sound settings.
