  • So trains really are the main mode of transportation there huh... makes me wonder exactly how many lines there are.

  • There a lot! I'm not sure of the exact number, but there are at least 12 different subway lines and there are many different surface trains run by both JR and private lines. Do a search for "Tokyo subway map" and you can see what the subway routes look like - and the surface routes expand out from there. - LHS

  • Right - I meant to put the year in - and in fact just did. It was taken in October of 2008. (The original has vastly more resolution.) - LHS

  • Took a peek.... now my head hurts... salute to the men and women keeping these things safe.

    Over here we only have to elevated lines and that's it. Doesn't even go very far, well far enough. There is one other... the very old one that travels all the way to the provinces but that thing is way out and a bit scarry.
