Labelle Reunion Apollo Theater 12/19/08

The Labelle reunion at The Apollo was a phenomenal event. When the ladies arrived on stage there was a thundeorus ovation. Seven songs into the set, there was a power surge that blew out the theater's amps. After waiting over an hour for the concert to resume, it was finally postponed until the following night. As a consolation, Patti, Nona and Sarah sang "Can I Speak to You Before You Go To Hollywood" (this excerpt) and "What Can I Do For You" a capella with a choir. This is with NO amplicfication - just straight singing!!! Even with the unexpected ending, this show was otherwordly. It was LABELLE - BACK TO NOW!

I was there there, and during this I was crying !!!! No mikes! no amplifiers! Totally RAW! and these women tore the Apollo!!! It was a beautiful night! I have never seen anything like it, so beautiful and I know I never will! Sarah, Patti & Nona, the choir, the band, the back up singers, the whole experience was breathtaking! I will never, EVER, forget it! I love you ladies! thank you so much!

its so awsome that these 3 ladies are still so close after almost 50 years and still get together every now and then, unlike The Supremes, they have all even forgiven Cindy Birdsong for leaving them for The Supremes
