El nombre de Duprez era Gilbert. El tenor francés (que precisamente hoy hace 113 años que falleció) dio el primer Do de pecho de la historia el 17 de diciembre de 1831 - The family name of Duprez was Gilbert. He makes the first high C on December 17th 1831

The rival of Duprez, Gaston Nourrit jumped out of the window because he was unable to do it. He killed himself for his art.

or as last one Tony Poncet, I've heard him in the 1960's and you were nailed with your back at seat.
The same for "La Juive" or "Les Huguenots". This roles are for dramatic tenors of the first rank, you need a heldentenor (fort-ténor) with stunning high C's. This works were composed by Meyerbeer & Halévy for the legendary french tenor Gaston Duprez who was the first human being who could sing a high C from the breast voice and not with the head voice as was done around 1840.

This is a French opera by Rossini, he sings "Asile, héréditaire" from "Guillaume Tell", the french fort-ténor to sing this music has vanished from the opera firmanent.

Chris sings this aria beautifully, and this is during a live performance of this opera which is long and remains brutally high throughout the show. Bravo!
