I have been riding around brooklyn on one of these for 3 years now, blew by cops numerous times, have never been stopped or ticketed. They don't see these often enough to count it as a motorcycle. if you are worried about getting stopped, if you see a cop turn off the engine quickly and pretend you're pedaling, they'll just think you're pedaling that fast haha

Great way to get around the city, if you want it impounded. Motor assisted bicycles are illegal in NY. Check with the DMV.
