Amazing DX considering the power, and 1240 was a graveyard frequency with a station assigned every few miles. The DJ is still around, living in Florida. I emailed the link to his friends so he'd hear this.
WGBB's antenna system was only 5 years old, the old tower and grounding system having been replaced in 1978. Couple that with the antenna location by the water and how much quieter the band was then from man-made noise, it's no surprise (plus it is also summer).

WGBB dominated reception during the day here in Philly. Mostly groundwave propagation.
