I can't wait to tie a few of these and try on the Farmington next time I'm there in the morning.

Eric is without any dispute, a master Fly maker. He simplifys Fly Tieing. An art that many have made difficult. I had the opportunity to do some casting with him. And again, he simplifyed the fly cast. Whithin 20 minutes he rid me of common mistakes even seasoned Fly anglers make in a cast. He had me casting effortlessly in 45 minutes.

What is the point of tying a Caenis imitation and fishing with it, when they very rarely catch fish in a Caenis hatch anyway? Or am i, and thousands of others, missing something that is so far unexplained by the many "experts" that come up with these weak and inefective tying exercises?

Don't Caenis hatch in the evening and Tricorythodes in the early morning? I think they're different bugs. Anyway, I've fished this pattern quite a bit during Trico hatches and can attest to its effectiveness in both NJ and PA. Weak and ineffective tying exercise? It's simple to tie, uses just a few common materials and matches the natural very well. What more do you want from a pattern?
