@sjk9wonwon The work load has shifted and the dispatcher is still there but now they are handling runs generated by the police, calls from other agencies and answering 911 calls. It is a very busy position. When the system fails, they are also responsible for manually notifying the stations.

@jmyerffemt Stop by and have them show you where the hay lofts were. You can still see the doors in the apparatus room. Or at least you could 15 years ago.

any tips on improving the reception on my analog scanner? i bought a longer antenna but it didn't work. The one it came with is much better.

This house is the OLDEST operational house in Dallas Fire Rescue... built in 1909. middle door is remodel. the doors are recessed so it is kinda difficult for them to see pedestrians till the person is right in front of the apparatus. Great house, great folks, trying to get hired and would love to draw it for first assignment, truck company of course though...haha
