@frontenginedragsterd I was lucky enough to know Pat before he passed, he told me about the commercial, he wasn't suppose to be the driver, but the regular stunt guy was to big of a "weak suck" to do it. The slingshot is also the recreated Jade Grenade crafted by patty himself

I was at Martin Dragway a couple of weeks ago and saw something very similar happen... as soon as the dragster left the line, his 'chute popped open!! funniest thing I have ever seen!! My first thought was of this ad....
