Insight Prison Project won a Community Leadership Award from the San Franicsco Foundation in 2005 for its dedication to breaking the cycle of incarceration through effective in-prison rehabilitation programming, and for being a model for catalyzing statewide prison reform.

Something like 70% of people who go to prison end up coming back. Which should be a big clue that sending people to prison who are going to get out while they can still be productive. And just locking them up is not working.

This is really refreshing to see. I work in a career center for ex- offenders and I think that they always learn the most from people they can relate to. Actually, this inspries me to ask offenders who have jobs to do motivational speeches.
