yea turns out it was going though the same spots it hit before now if I could get around to getting that new bow string I would use one of the self healing ball targets but I cant hit the broad side of a barn and would end up putting them into the fence or ground. now if I could get my target to stop flipping over on my arrows and snapping them in two.

thats a piece of tanned leather much tougher than rawhide

which would be better for big game? The woodsman from your site or the grizzly?

That would be of great use! Thanks

is it normal for a 40 lb bow of bamboo to punch through both sides of an 8 inch block of styrofoam at about 15 yards, with a 125 grain bodkin point, or is it time for a new target even through spots I never hit before happend three times tonight apr. 30 2011.
never did it before though or did I overdraw the bow? I held it and let of the string with a yank since I was mad from not hitting the target where intended and punched right though both sides and they are not the broadheads you sold me.

@manga12 It does sound like you need a new target. We would recommend the U-Fill It 2-Sided Bag target (item #7846 on our web site). It is an inexpensive option for target shooting... just fill it with old rags, scrap plastic, paper.

Thanks for the reply, I'm new to bow hunting and broadhead selection is the hardest question for me. How many blades should a broadhead have for an efficent kill? What are the pros and cons for two resp. three blades (and why not even four?)
DrChrisBiomed 4 years ago
Glad to help! As a rule three-blade heads usually kill more quickly and provide a better blood trail. Two-blades may go further once they exit the animal, but both blades will pass through animals on a clean shot.
Unfortunately, Youtube doesn't allow the posting of web sites in their comments section (probably to discourage spam.) I'll gladly PM you some helpful links if you like.

I also have a question. Can a cut on contact go through both shoulder blades of a mooose(when shooting a traditional bow?

Yes. If you have a good broadhead, a heavy arrow, and a good poundage bow, you can definitely punch through the shoulder blades of a moose using traditional equipment.
