Kootenay Savings Family Movie Nights in the Park 2009

Kootenay Savings recently hosted Family Movie Night in the Park events in Kimberley, Nakusp and Trail saw close to 3,000 people come out to enjoy a movie outside, on a three-storey high screen in support of their local food banks. As parrt of the evenings events, we ran a movie "trailer" that focused on all our community giving and initiatives.

Held on September 9 in Kimberley, September 10 in Nakusp and September 11 in Trail, all three Movie Nights were free to attend, and in lieu of an admission fee everyone one was encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to the local food bank.

The September 9 movie night in Kimberley was held at Coronation Park, drawing nearly 500 people to the park, and resulting in food donations valued at $800 and over $400 in cash donations for the Kimberley Helping Hands Food Bank.

The Arena Soccer Field in Nakusp was the site of the September 10 movie night, and drew close to 300 people, with 334 pounds of food and $70 in cash donated to the Arrow and Slocan Lakes Community Services Nakusp Food Bank.

The September 11 event, held at Haley Park in Trail, which was also the site of last years inaugural Movie Night, attracted over 2200 people and brought in nearly 1000 pounds of food donations to go along with $160 in cash donations.
